A story about jealousy, love, growing old and dying

ISLAND OF NO MEMORIES takes place in a parallel universe called Isidora, a world like ours but with the notable difference that no one remembers anything. In Isidora you have no name, no home and no family – or perhaps everybody has exactly the same name, same family and same home …

Everyone has everything they need and when you remember nothing, there is nothing to fear – but what if you forget how to laugh and cry? And what if everyone falls in love with the same person?

Is it a dream or a nightmare living on ISLAND OF NO MEMORIES?

The story is about a man who wants to forget in an attempt to remove himself from his daily reality. And when he managed to lose his memory, he first enjoys his oblivion sanctuary, until the moment when he no longer recognizes his wife, and he has forgotten how to express his feelings …

The idea
Kaori Ito was inspired to create ISLAND OF NO MEMORIES when she was growing up in Tokyo. She daily saw business men, who by day was the image of moderation and control in their suit with the briefcase under the arm, but by night was so drunk that they screamed, cried and rolled around the streets. “I started thinking that they needed to let go in order to forget their daily obligations.” Says Kaori Ito. In the performance robes represented our daily obligations, tangled like as many strings that one might want to cling to when looking for his or hers foundation.
